Dreaming of a ram : what can this symbol evoke?

A force with only one direction

The ram is the animal of the frontal impact, and men borrowed its name for the machine that breaks down doors. Its power comes neither from cunning nor speed : it comes from not deviating.

The dream uses this figure for a force whose quality is also its limit. It opens what resists, and can do nothing else. Those who dream of a ram often live through situations where they won something by sheer struggle, and where the same method no longer works at all.

The question it poses is therefore precise : does the door before you ask to be broken down, or only to be opened another way? Many dreamers see themselves charging an obstacle that, in the dream, was not locked.

The one that leads the flock

The symbol's other side is social : the ram is the male that leads the flock, and the animals follow without his needing to gather them. It is an authority not discussed because it is not stated.

In dreams this figure often designates the one who, within a group, decides by mere presence — a father, an elder, a boss. It can also designate you, and the dream rarely does so without reason : one does not see oneself as a ram by chance.

The decisive detail is what the flock does. If it follows, the symbol speaks of an acknowledged authority ; if it scatters or stays still, it speaks of an authority that has emptied out, and whose bearer alone has not yet taken the measure of it.
