Sweeping belongs to that category of tasks whose result is invisible : a clean floor goes unnoticed, a dirty floor leaps to the eye. Nobody is praised for what has been done ; only what is missing gets pointed out.

That imbalance carries the whole weight of the symbol. The dream uses the broom to designate those contributions nobody counts — the upkeep of a relationship, the logistics of a family, the coordination work visible only in its absence. This form appears when a situation is set aside rather than resolved : a disagreement postponed, a symptom silenced, a person avoided for months. Nothing is settled, but the surface is clean — and the dream shows where the dust has piled up.

What to remember is therefore the destination. Sweeping outward, into a corner, under a piece of furniture, or sweeping without ever collecting do not tell the same story : the last is that of perpetual effort which never concludes.
